  Research unit of the Higher School of Education - Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (ESE-IPC). 

     Founded in 2014  .  Replaces the Research Center in Physical Education and Sport, founded in 2001 at ESE-IPC

UNICID / ASSERT develops activities aimed at:

1. Producing knowledge resulting from research projects, development and interdisciplinary scientific innovation, human behaviour and performance, sports sciences and physical activity and, in related areas

2. Promote high scientific and pedagogical training for professional practice in the areas of sport, physical activity, health and quality of life 

3. Support the teaching of curricular units, integrate students into research projects and hold events of academic, scientific and social value

4. Transfer knowledge and provide value-added services to society

5. Cooperate with national and international entities and organizations
